Alan LaGarde was named Executive Producer and Vice President of Creative Affairs at Tiny Tot Sports Inc. in January 2003. He served as the Executive Producer of Tiny Tot Sports’ debut video, “Baby Baseball,” released in August 2003. LaGarde is responsible for all aspects of writing, filming, graphic design and editing at Tiny Tot Sports. In addition, he oversees creative affairs for the company, including character development and design. LaGarde is an award-winning television producer, news reporter and anchor with more than 15 years of television and video-production experience. In addition to his role at Tiny Tot Sports, LaGarde is developing and producing a new prime-time television program for USA Networks, scheduled to air during fall 2003.
Prior to joining Tiny Tot Sports, LaGarde served as an independent television producer and consultant for many popular television programs, including The Learning Channel’s “Trading Spaces,” “A Wedding Story” and “A Makeover Story.”
LaGarde also helped develop the hit show “Medical Detectives” (now “Forensic Files”), which airs on TLC and CourtTV cable networks and the NBC Television Network. He served as the pilot producer and as the Senior Producer for the show from 1996 to 1998.
Recently LaGarde has held the duties of Producer/Director on Discovery Channel's “BIG” and served as Senior Producer for the Tennis Channel at the US Open 2004.
LaGarde began his television career in 1984 as the youngest news director in the United States at WNNE-TV, the NBC affiliate serving Vermont and New Hampshire. He was also the station’s lead anchor and reporter. In 1988, LaGarde joined WTNH, the ABC affiliate in New Haven, Connecticut, were he served as a reporter, covering news, sports and features.
LaGarde has won numerous television awards, including dozens from the National Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. He independently produced documentaries on life in a small traveling carnival and on a group of college students traveling to Polish death camps to witness the effects of the Holocaust. He also served as the Director of Television and Film at DeSales University in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
LaGarde holds a master’s degree in broadcast journalism and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and Washington, D.C., He also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northwestern and has attended a directing workshop through International Film and Video Workshops in Rockport, Maine.
LaGarde is a native of New York and currently lives with his wife in Los Angeles. He has traveled extensively, visiting Japan, Iceland, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, the Ice Hotel and many other locations.
